Winifred Leigh Byrd

Winifred Leigh Byrd, 61, of W. Lincoln Ave., died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at UPMC Heritage Hospital in Farrell, Pennsylvania. She was born August 12, 1950 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Robert and Cora (Jones) Cohen. Mrs. Byrd was a secretary at the Lawrence County Housing Authority, Columbia Gas and the Youth Development Center. She was affiliated with St. Paul's Baptist Church and enjoyed socializing, and being with friends and family.

She is survived by three sons, Marquis Holmes of New Castle, Joseph Cohen and his wife Allison Flowers Cohen of New Castle, and James Ritenour of Hermitage, PA, two brothers, Robert Keith Cohen of Martha's Vineyard, MA, and Carl Cobbs of Ft. Washington, MD, two sisters, Pauletta Lane and her husband Jeffrey of New Castle, and Rose Cohen and her husband Michael K. Lee of Hawaii, MO, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Byron Cohen. Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 10 AM to 12 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 12:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Henry Boyd Holmes of Rhema Word of Faith International will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
