David L. Ball, 59, of Pearson Street, New Castle, died Monday, February 21, 2011 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born June 8, 1951 in Danville, Pennsylvania a son of the late David and Maxine (Yocum) Ball. He was married to Tampa L. (Biddle) Ball who survives in New Castle. Mr. Ball was a truck driver for many years for various area companies. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart and other Medals for his service. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed playing pool and was an area shark in the Muncy area. Mr. Ball also enjoyed hunting, camping, and floating on his canoe in the river fishing for walleye. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a Dale Earnheart fan. He was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by two sons, David L. Ball, III and Lisa of Jones, OK, and Jeremy M. Ball and Brittany of New Castle, PA, one brother, Gerald Ball and wife Claudia of Florida, three sisters, Kathy Rishel and husband Greg of Bloomsburg, PA, Sharon Kitka and husband Joe of Danville, PA, and Sandy Travis of Millville, PA, nine grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ball.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
