Joseph John ‘Duke’ Perrotta, 88, of Florida, formerly of New Castle, PA, died April 10, 2007 in Florida. He was born August 25, 1918 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late Benjamin and Josephine Perrotta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane (Henry) Perrotta. In his lifetime, ‘Duke’ was an avid athlete. He participated in semi-professional football, boxing and in his ‘50’s managed to play on two different softball teams in Florida. He received the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Meritorious Achievement Award and Nominating Certificate for boxing, football and softball on January 7, 1982. ‘Duke’ was born with the gift of being able to play any musical instrument from piano to the tenor sax. He was happiest when he was playing music and entertaining.

He was loved and will be greatly missed by, two daughters, Jo-Ann Perrotta Westwood, Joni Pursell and her husband Greg, one son, Michael Penrod and his wife Lurene, two brothers, Jimmy Perrotta and Steven ‘Sonny’ Perrotta, two sisters, Mary Chill and her husband Joseph and Nancie DeRosa and her husband Jimmy, eight grandchildren, Tony Pinnola, Amber Pinnola, Shannon Diaz, Michael Penrod and his wife Shauna, Kelly Wood and her husband John, Janie Harrold and her husband Jason, Andrew Pursell and Stevie Lee Pursell ten great grandchildren, J.J., Gianna, Tristan, Jordin, Eva, Luke, Aislinn, Brandon, Sarah and Ava and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and good friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Ricky Perrotta, two sisters, Annie Russo and Antonette Edwards and his brother, Benjamin Perrotta.

Funeral services were conducted in Florida. Local funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
