Edward John Ryan, Sr.

Edward John Ryan, Sr., 67, of South Ashland Avenue, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at Butler Veterans Medical Center in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was born February 23, 1944 in New Castle, a son of the late Fred and Angeline (Stone) Ryan. He married Karen R. (Fulkerson) Ryan on January 23, 1966, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Ryan was a machinist working for Mesta Machine for 17 years. He then worked to Hunt Steel and M&R construction. He enjoyed playing cards and horseracing. He also loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by five children, Randy J. Ryan and his wife Judy of New Castle, Rachelle M. Buczek and her husband Dave of Clinton, PA, Renee R. Ryan and her fiancé Matt Richert of New Castle, Edward J. Ryan, Jr. and his fiancé Emily Fickes of Kent, OH, and Danny C. Ryan of New Castle, two brothers, Pete and Fred Ryan, both of New Castle, three sisters, Carol Patsy, Debbie Kramer, and Marianne Masters all of New Castle, and five grandchildren, Randy J., Taylor R., and Matthew E. Ryan, David J. Buczek, and Isabella Rose Richert..

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Linda Mitchell.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Steve Palsa of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the cemetery.
