Theresa Ambrosia

Theresa Ambrosia, 100, of Hazel Street, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born August 4, 1910 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Padula) Vitale. She was married to the late Joseph Ambrosia, who died May 10, 1973. Mrs. Ambrosia was a cook at the Eagles Club for 50 years. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting and was a member of the Sons of Italy. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Diana Mascetta and her husband Berardino ‘Benny’ of New Castle, five grandchildren, Melinda Parenti and husband Joe, David Ambrosia, Richard Ambrosia and wife Susan, Theresa Essinger and husband Dennis, and Ralph Mascetta and wife Michele, three great grandchildren, Erin Innocenzi and husband Chris, and Miriah and R.J. Mascetta, and one great great grandson, Salvatore Innocenzi.

She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Ambrosia, two brothers, Domenick and John Vitale, and two sisters, Elizabeth Carvella, and Antoinette Cherozzi.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Sean Francis of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery.
