Alphonse ‘Al’ T. DeVivo, 88, of N. Ashland Avenue, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born November 8, 1922 in New Castle, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Thomas) DeVivo. He was married to Stella M. (Suchy) DeVivo who died January 27, 2007. Mr. DeVivo was a highway inspector for PennDot retiring after over 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe and Africa. Mr. DeVivo loved music and was a member of the Red Coat and Blue Coat Bands for many years. He also taught music at Donoti's Music Store. He enjoyed woodcarving, gardening, and loved animals, especially horses.

He is survived by three children, Alphonso E. DeVivo, Bernard J. DeVivo, and Elizabeth ‘Betty Ann’ DeVivo, all of New Castle, one sister, Rose Rendulich of Campbell, OH, nine grandchildren, and twelve great granchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas DeVivo, one daughter, Bernadine Fulkerson, and one sister, Barbara Zumpbella.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Steve Palsa of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the cemetery.
