Harry W. 'Bud' Beighley

Harry W. “Bud” Beighley, 88 of West Mayfield, died Sunday July 31, 2011 in Friendship Ridge, Brighton Twp.

Born December 23, 1922 in Beaver Falls, was the son of the late Harry T. & Ethel (Flickinger) Beighley.

Served in U.S. Army during the European Campaign. Landed on the beaches of France, served in General George Patton’s 3rd Army, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, played football in Europe while serving to transport prisoners to Nuremberg. Worked 40 years (Retiring in 1982) from the East Works Department of Babcock & Wilcox Co. where he was a foreman. He was an avid bowler, and sports fan. Player of many years of softball, member of the American Legion, West Mayfield Vets, Beaver Valley Club of Retired Persons, Battle of the Bulge Veterans, Past President of West Mayfield Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Dolores P. (Carver) Beighley, June 30, 2010, and 8 sisters.

He is survived by three sons Harry O. (Charla) Beighley, North Sewickley Twp; Vernon L. (Carol ) Beighley, New Castle; and Gary L. ( Fiancée Sharon Petrak) Beighley, Oak Grove, WV. 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801-4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010. Rev. Samuel Blair of Gateway Hospice will officiate.

Private entombment will be in the Beaver Falls Mausoleum.
