Patsy J. George

Patsy J. George, 73, of North Meadow Drive, Union Twp., died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born May 28, 1938 in New Castle, a son of the late Victor E. and Mary C. (Cestrone) George. Mr. George started his 44 year career in education as a 6th grade teacher at Croton Elementary School. He was then the principal at Mahoningtown, West Pittsburg, Lockley, West Side, Thaddeus Stevens, and Kennedy Elementary Schools. He received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Penn State University, a Masters of Education in Elementary Education and a Principals Certificate from Westminster College, and a Superintendant Letter of Eligibility from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. George was also co-owner of Window Associates in New Castle for 20 years. He started and attended the recitation of the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet at Golden Hill Nursing Home for 3 years, and was active in promoting the devotion to St. Frastino. Mr. George also enjoyed fishing and reading the Bible.

He is survived by one son, James George of Eurho, CA, one daughter, Stacey George of Somers Point, NJ, one brother, Victor J. George and his wife Elaine of New Castle, two sisters, Phyllis Huffy and her husband Donald, and Janice Morgan and her husband James all of New Castle, two grandchildren, and one great grand daughter. He is also survived by his companion Paula Figley and his dog Marley.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Sean Francis of St. Vitus Church will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
