Richard 'Dicky' E. Conti, Sr.

Richard 'Dicky' E. Conti, Sr., 75, of Vine Street, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born February, 3, 1936, in New Castle, a son of the late Anthony and Alice (Simpson) Conti. He married Jean M. (Cioffi) Conti on November 28, 1964, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Conti was a New Castle City Police Officer retiring after 32 years. He was an Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was also a bus driver for First Student Transportation for 11 years. Mr. Conti was a member of the FOP #21, the Eagles club, Moose Club, and Columbus Club. He was also a New Castle Area Baseball Umpire for many years. His greatest loves were Notre Dame football and his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Steven A. Conti, Richard E. Conti, Jr. and his wife Stacy, and Toni Lynn Conti, all of New Castle, one brother, Donald 'Duck' Conti, Sr. of New Castle, and five grandchildren, Richard J. Conti, Nicholas A. Conti, Cherokee R. Conti, Cheyenne R. Conti, and Seneca R. Conti.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Beth Conti, six brothers, Albert 'Jabby', Thomas, Louis, Carmen, Fred 'Fritzy, and Anthony 'DoDo' Conti, and four sisters, Maggie Sinibaldi, Clara Louis, Emma Myers, and Louise Louis.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Vitus Church. Father Fred Almade will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the cemetery. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
