Vivian E. Byers, 86, of Stickle RD, Shenango Twp., died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Avalon Nursing Center in New Castle. She was born July 31, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio a daughter of the late David and Helen (Sleigher) Vogan. She was married to Kenneth M. Byers who died January 30, 2008. Mrs. Byers was a cashier at G.C. Murphey and Murphey Five and Dime retiring after 30 years. She was a member of the Croton United Methodist Church, the Joy Club, and was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Aide for many years. She also enjoyed knitting, playing cards, bingo, and traveling.
She is survived by two children, Gaylord M. Byers and his wife Nikkie of New Castle, and Dianna J. Biller of Charlotte Hall, MD, one sister, Lena Mae Stalma of New Castle, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by, her son-in-law, John B. Biller, two brothers, Larry and Charles Vogan, and her sister, Edna Sleigher.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Wanless of Croton United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
