Patterson John Baker, 83, of Twin Oaks Dr., New Castle, died Monday morning, July 30, 2007 at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born August 14, 1923 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the son of the late Samuel and Jennie (Sankey) Baker. He was married to Nellie Rankin for 41 years, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Baker retired after 27 years from PennDot as a truck driver. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in France with the 108th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery C. He enjoyed flying airplanes and had a pilots license.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, two daughters, Linda Simmons of Canfield, OH and Bonnie Jeffcoat of Boardman, OH, three step-daughters, Ruth Billyk of New Castle, PA, Carla Rankin of New Castle, PA, and Paula Hutchins of Harmony, PA, three step-sons, Tom Rankin of New Castle, PA, Doug Rankin of Iraq, and Barry Rankin of Cleveland, OH, twenty-two grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the funeral home.
