Robert Franklin Rice, Sr.

Robert Franklin Rice, Sr., 89, of W. Madison Ave., New Castle, died Thursday eveing, August 2, 2007 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born July 3, 1918 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the son of the late Sylvester and Mary Della (Shira) Rice. He was married to Mary (Spittle) Rice, who died on December 4, 1998. Mr. Rice was a machine setter and expeditor at the Johnson Bronze retiring after 38 years. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Rice enjoyed gardening and doing crossword puzzles.
He is survived by three sons, William S. Rice of New Castle, PA, Robert Frank Rice, Jr. of New Wilmington, PA, and Duwayne J. Rice of New Castle, PA, one daughter, Mary Catherine Rice of Florida, one sister, Jean Symons of Cleveland, OH, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Jane Parker.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 10am to 11am.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Richard Nero of Southern Care Hospice will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
