Elza Lloyd Martin, 85, of Old Pittsburgh RD, New Castle, PA, formerly of Kentucky, died Thursday morning, August 9, 2007 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born September 18, 1921 in Clark County, Kentucky a son of the late Elza and Retha (Willoughby) Martin. Mr. Martin was a Master Carpenter with the Southwest Ohio Regional Council ofCarpenters retiring after 50 years. He worked for Ellwood Dues Construction Co. in Cincinnati, OH for many years. He then was Contractor and Supervisor for Cooper Jarrett Trucking Co. in West Middlesex, PA for 5 years. He inspected all of Cooper Jarrett terminals throughout the Mid-West and East Coast. Mr. Martin then was Building Inspector for the Pinellas County School System in St. Petersburg, FL for 20 years. Mr. Martin was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp. serving in World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater and was involved in various battles throughout the Pacific. For his service he received numerous Campaign Ribbons, three Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star Medal with V for Valor and the Silver Star Medal.

He is survived by two sons, Terry L. Martin of Kewaunee, WI and Donald R. Martin of Pismo Beach, CA, three daughters, Debbie A. Eckerle of Erlanger, KY, Linda M. Vieth of Florence, KY, and Cynthia Ann Nixon of New Castle, PA, four sisters, Lena Crouch of Winchester, KY, Faye Razor of Dayton, OH, Phyllis White of Florence, KY, and Pearl Skinner of Winchester, KY, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Eric Rodney Martin, his brother Eddie Martin, and four sisters, Dorothy Martin, Eunice Stratton, Jewel Miller, and Hazel Smith.

Funeral services will be held in Kentucky. Burial will be in the Spruce Cemetery in Jeffersonville, KY. Local Arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
