Leroy G. Hill, Sr.

LeRoy G. Hill, Sr., 92, of Hill Ave., Shenango Twp., died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his home in New Castle. He was born December 25, 1919 in New Castle, a son of the late Ira and Cora (Glasser) Hill. He was married to the late Gladys J. (Park) Hill who died April 19, 2005. Mr. Hill was a car hauler for Chrysler working for M&G Convoy by Reiter Truck retiring after 33 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe with the 190th Field Artillery. He received 5 Bronze Stars for his service. Mr. Hill was a member of the CCC, was a beekeeper for many years, and enjoyed bird watching and building bird boxes and hunting.

He is survived by one son, Richard L. Hill of New Castle, one brother, James Hill of New Castle, one sister, Edna Schlemmer of New Castle, two grandchildren, six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son LeRoy G. Hill, Jr., three brothers, Norman, Kenneth, and Joseph Hill, and two sisters, Helen Van Horn, and Laura Belle Miller.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 12:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. James Hockenberry will be officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Cemetery in New Castle.
