Alma Rainey

Alma Rainey, 89, of Addis St., New Castle, died Sunday evening, September 9, 2007 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was born April 17, 1918 in Plain Grove, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Luke and Laura (Dostilio) Schepp. She was married to Samuel J. Rainey, Sr., who died on June 12, 2005. Mrs. Rainey was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Church and the Mary Martha Guild of the church. She was a former member of the 8 of Hearts Club. Mrs. Rainey enjoyed cooking, doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and traveling. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by three sons, Samuel J. Rainey, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Anthony R. Rainey of Redway, CA, and Guy D. Rainey of Ashland, OH, four sisters, Lucy Burnotski of Butler, PA, Gloria DeProspero, Isabell Smith, and Betty Jean Natale all of New Castle, PA, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Schepp and Ernie Schepp, and her sister Helen Chiappini.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 5-8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Father Robert Schweitzer of St. Joseph the Worker Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
