John C. 'Jack' King, 71, of Castleton Apartments, died Wednesday evening, October 24, 2007 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born August 12, 1936 in Worth Twp., Mercer County, Pennsylvania a son of the late Carol W. and Ernestine Grace (Shaffer) King. Mr. King served as a Staff Sergeant with the 1st Supply Squadron of the United States Air Force retiring after 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed shopping, reading and collecting knick knacks and military memorabilia.

He is survived by four brothers, Kenneth ‘Buz’ Shaffer, Richard King, Richard ‘Birdie’ Shaffer, and Ed King, all of New Castle, PA, four sisters, Virginia Cole of Ellwood City, PA, Joan McCue, Judy Keller, and Marilyn Ross all of New Castle, PA, a Niece, Shelly Coblentz, who was his caretaker, and a number of additional nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kay King, four brothers Tom, James, Bill, and Bob King, and two sisters, Anna Mae Herman and Dorothy Lambert.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 29, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. William F. Schafer of the New Castle Area Honor Guard will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
