Albert F. D'Ambrosia, 84, of Rhodes Estates, died Monday evening, November 19, 2007 at his home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born May 4, 1923 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late James and Diana (Natale) D'Ambrosia. He married Florence M. (Izzo) D’Ambrosia on January 16, 1944, she survives in New Castle. Mr. D'Ambrosia was a New Castle City Police Officer retiring after 38 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific with the 35th Portable Surgical Hospital. For his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic and Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, two daughters, Rosemary Park of Cleveland Heights, OH and Anne Navarra of New Castle, PA, one son, Albert Anthony D'Ambrosia of Boalsburg, PA, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, Anthony, Patsy, John, and Rocco D'Ambrosia, and four sisters, Mary Viggiano, Josephine Parthenes, Eleanore Frasso, and Vincenza D'Ambrosia.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at Mary Mother of Hope St. Mary Church. Father James Downs of Christ the King Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the cemetery.
