Paul J. ‘Red’ Gentile, 89, of Heckathorn Road, formerly of Croton, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born July 20, 1923 in New Castle, a son of the late Geralomo and Coronata (Mongelli) Gentile. Mr. Gentile worked at Fenati Brick Yard for many years. He then was a custodian at Ben Franklin Junior High School for many years. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater receiving 4 Bronze Stars for his service. Mr. Gentile enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling, and was a former member of the Duke's Club.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Donna Gentile of New Castle, two brothers, John Gentile of California and Richard Gentile of New Castle, two grandchildren, Paul Gentile and Maria & James Trozzo, and three great grandchildren, Gavin and Danielle Gentile and Vincent Trozzo.

He was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Gentile, three brothers, Anthony, Louis, and Charles Gentile, and two sisters, Mary Doss and Generosa Costa.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 3 PM to 6 PM.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Heisel of First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
