Norman M. ‘Sonny’ Lupo, 79, of West Washington Street, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born March 13, 1933 in New Castle, a son of the late Michael and Clara (Annichenni) Lupo. He was married to Carole A. (Million) Lupo on April 26, 1958, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Lupo was a welder at Carbon Limestone for over 30 years. He also worked for Gennaro Pavers and Hillview Manor. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War Era. Mr. Lupo enjoyed golfing and was a member of the West Side Golf League and the K Pulaski Golf League. He enjoyed making and refinishing golf clubs and was an avid Yankees and Notre Dame fan.
He is survived by three children, Cheryl A. Proch and her husband Gary of Parma, OH, James M. Lupo and his wife Kim of Ashland, OH, and Ginamarie Sodersten of New Castle, one brother, Robert Lupo and his wife Marlene of New Castle, three sisters, Mary Ann Veltre and her husband Robert of New Castle, Jean Frasso and her husband Tony of Edinburg, PA, and Emily Peters and her husband Bill of Poland, OH, four grandchildren, Christa Kalisz, Brandon Lupo, Zachary Proch, and Kaitlyn Proch, and one great granddaughter, Emmalena Kalisz..
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Mother of Hope Church. Father William Siple of Mary Mother of Hope Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
