Michael 'Uncle Mike' Tarzia, 89, of Shaw Street, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Carriage House in New Castle. He was born February 20, 1923 in New Castle, a son of the late Guy and Amelia (Charlendina) Tarzia. Mr. Tarzia retired from the Department of Vital Records after 32 years in supply. He enjoyed riding the New Castle City Bus to Grove City Outlets and made the journey 6 days a week for years. He also enjoyed Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
He is survived by one sister, Mary Tarzia of New Castle, two nieces Karen Tanner Drotleff and her husband Bruce of New Castle, and Kelli Chambers and her husband Chris of Hummlestown, PA, one nephew, Raymond Tanner of Dallas, PA and a great niece, Emily Drotleff of New Castle.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Domenick Tarzia, and two sisters, Theresa Tarzia and Angeline Tanner.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 12 noon at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Brady Randall and Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in New Castle. On-line condolences can be sent to: www.williamrogerdecarbo.com.
