Robert E. Sowash

Robert E. Sowash, 85, of Nesbitt Road, New Castle, formerly of Chippewa, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home in New Castle. He was born in New Castle on June 20, 1927 a son of the late William Fleming and Dorothy Amborse (Rice) Sowash. Mr. Sowash was a self-employed mill rite retiring after 60 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Era. Mr. Sowash was a member of Zem Zem Temple of Erie, PA, Tall Cedars from Lebanon, the CG's and the oldest member of the Gripers Club. He also loved fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Gretchen Sowash of Lynchburg, VA and Leslie Taylor and her husband Roy of New Castle, his former wife, Mildred J. (Johns) Sorvelli, two grandchildren, Alicia Taylor and her husband Gerald and Ashley Brandt and her husband Gerald, and six great grandchildren, Gerald, Ethan, Dylan and Jordan Taylor and Gerald and Nataleigh Brandt.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Sowash, one brother, William Sowash and one sister, Joanne Sowash.
No services are scheduled at this time. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
