Mary J. Palumbo

Mary J. Palumbo, 83, of 708 W. Clayton Ave., New Castle, died Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2005 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was born March 27, 1922 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the daughter of Antonio and Catherine (Carusone) Quahliero, they precede her in death. She married James Palumbo on September 2, 1940, he died July 1975. Mrs. Palumbo was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and a former member of the Holy Rosary Society of St. Lucy Church; she also was part of the Altar Society of the Church. She worked as a server in the cafeteria of Ben Franklin Jr. High School for 9 years and was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.

She is survived by 1 son, Stanley Palumbo, PhD of Youngstown, OH and his wife, Linda, 1 daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Mary Ann) DeFelice of North Versailles, PA, 2 sisters, Angeline Mingione of Ohio and Nancy Leone of New Castle, PA, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers Marion Quahliero, Andrew Gangliero and Andy Gangliero and her sister Elizabeth Russo.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave., New Castle on Monday from 5-8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Lucy Church. Father Kenneth Keene of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
