Philomena V. Malizia

Philomena V. Malizia, 88, of Ludwig Road, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born February 29, 1924 in Brady's Bend, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Valente) Varrasso. She was married to the late Albert Malizia who died March 13, 2002. Mrs. Malizia worked for Smith's Dry Cleaning for many years, then she worked at St. Francis Hospital in the laundry retiring after 13 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Mary Martha Guild.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Saines and her husband George of New Castle, one brother, Sam Varrasso of Butler, three sisters, Mary Toscano of Sun Center City, FL, Ann Stock of Butler, PA, and Bertha Yount of Beaver, PA, and one grandson, Matthew John Saines.
She was preceded in death by her brother Ernest Varrasso, and her sister Rose Iarrapino.
Private funeral services will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
