David F. Bevan, 88, of New Castle, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Edison Manor Nursing Home. He was born October 30, 1924 in New Castle, a son of the late David and Pearle (Wysner) Bevan. He married Bertha G. Bevan on July 27, 1946, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Bevan was a foreman in the Heat/Treat Department of Flowline Corp. retiring after 34 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #51, obtaining a Pilgrim Degree. He was past president of Moose Legion 88 and was manager of the Moose bingo for over 20 years. Mr. Bevan was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing and playing fast pitch softball. He also played semi-pro baseball for many years and coached the North Hill Little League baseball team for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Robert D. Bevan and his wife Maureen of Hubbard, OH, and Dennis L. Bevan and his wife Linda of New Castle, one sister, Ruth Saylor of New Castle, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Bevan, and two sisters, Georgiamae Dute, and Iva Carbone.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Richard Nero will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
