Carol M. Reed, 83, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, formerly of E. Washington Street, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born February 11, 1930 in New Castle, the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret (Lytle) McCowin. She was married to the late James F. Reed who died May 20, 2003. Mrs. Reed was Shenango Township Tax Collector retiring after 25 years. She was a member of Calvary Independent Church and a leader of the Awana Club. She loved sports and was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. She was very active with MDA. Mrs. Reed loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children, Cindy Mitcheltree and her husband Robert of New Wilmington, and Geoffrey Reed and his wife Sandy of New Castle, one brother, Edward McCowin of New Castle, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, David and Matthew Reed.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Chuck Fombelle of Calvary Independent Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
