Eugene C. Melchiorre, 83, of 22 N. Cedar St., New Castle, died Wednesday morning, October 19, 2005 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born August 7, 1922 in Brent, Pennsylvania the son of Joseph and Loretta (Dostilio) Melchiorre, they precede him in death. He married Clara L. (Pezzi) Melchiorre on November 29, 1947, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Melchiorre was an annealer at National Steel in New Castle retiring after 43 years. He was a Marine Corps. veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Melchiorre was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, the St. Marguerite Society and was former president of the Society and a member of the American Legion. He loved animals and baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He played softball as a pitcher for many years and played semi-pro football with the Wabash Bears.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. David (Carol) Pastore of New Castle, PA, 2 brothers and sister-in-laws, Alfred & Eileen Melchiorre and Joseph & Rosine Melchiorre all of New Castle, PA, 2 sisters, Mrs. Samuel (Eleanor) Caroluk and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Donadio all of New Castle, PA, 2 grandsons, Ryan Pastore and his wife Autumn and Justin Pastore all of New Castle, 1 great granddaughter, Graecyn Pastore of New Castle and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 8:00 A.M. at St. Lucy Church. Father Kenneth Keene of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 7:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
