Benjamin Arthur Augostine, 76, of Oxford Drive, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. Born July 28, 1936 in New Castle, Benjamin was a son of the late Benjamin and Louise (Piscitelli) Augostine. Benjamin was a veteran for six years in the Army serving during the Korean War era. He was stationed in Germany from January 1955 to December 1963, where he met and married the love of his life of 56 years, Hannelore Pulch.
He held many dinners for orphans to help with their care and toy’s he delivered and spent time with them at the orphanage. He took care of money needed throughout his life and was a graduate of New Castle High School. Benjamin was retired from the United States Post Office. He was a man who was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was helping someone fix their car, since he was also a care enthusiast or helping with home improvement projects, he was always there. He will be dearly missed, he was looking forward to his granddaughter’s wedding and his first great grandchild.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind one son, Benjamin Guy Augostine, two daughters, Gay Annemarie Augostine and Gwen Louise (Augostine) Janovick, three grandchildren, Karessa Presnar, Erika Janovick, and Christopher Benjamin Demos. In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Augostine and sister, Jenny Lou Augostine.
In honoring Benjamin’s wishes there are no calling hours and a private funeral was held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
