Floyd M. Dawson, 79, of 218 Hutchinson Ln., New Castle, died Saturday night, October 22, 2005 at Overlook Medical Center in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. He was born November 10, 1925 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania the son of Albert and Winona (Moltz) Dawson, they precede him in death. Mr. Dawson was married to Arlene S. Adams Dawson, who died December 29, 2003. Mr. Dawson worked for over 30 years as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Ways. He drove over 2 million miles accident free for Consolidated. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Dawson was on the USS Piedmont and on August 30, 1945 was part of Task Force 31, Tokyo Bay Occupation Force. He was part of the initial landing and occupation of Tokyo Bay and the capture of the HIJMS Nagato that led to Japanese surrender. Mr. Dawson was a life member of the NRA and the Hidden Valley Sportsman Club and an avid target shooter. He also was a US War History buff.

He is survived by 2 sons, Randolph F. Dawson of West Middlesex, PA and Timothy G. Dawson of Volant, PA, 2 sisters, Janice Zahn of Dayton, OH and Gloria Van Hook of Centerville, OH and 5 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 2 brothers George Dawson and Clarence Dawson, and his sister Betty Dawson.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Richard Nero will be officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Park Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the funeral home.
