Carl P. Vernino, 96, of Katherine Street, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born March 8, 1917 in New Castle, a son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Frengel) Vernino. He married Florence (Carusone) Vernino on April 13, 1940, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Vernino worked for Bossert Tin Mill and then was a clerk at the United States Post Office retiring after 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by two children, Marie Evans and her husband David of Ellwood City, and Raymond Vernino and his wife Eileen of Canal Fulton, OH, one grandson, David Evans, Jr. and one great granddaughter, Kelsea Evans.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Louis, and Lee Vernino.
Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
