Genevieve D’Egilio Gallagher, 91, entered into eternal life and peace on April 17, 2008. She was a daughter of the late Fiorinto and Edith ‘Ida’ (Paolone) D’Egilio, and sister to Carmella Chiafullo, Angeline DeLorenzo, Lucretia Vaughn, Madeline Richardson, Eleanor DeGilio, Tristan John DeGilio and Arthur DeGilio, all deceased. One brother Tony DeGilio survives.

Affectionately known as Genny, Gen and G.G., she was a life long resident of the South Side. Genevieve married Allie J. Gallagher of New York, New York, he is deceased. Surviving are two children, Patrick J. Gallagher of New Castle and Linda M. Drespling of New Wilmington. There are four grandchildren, Kelly Rebmann, Kimberly Gallagher Willard, Kristen Preston and Patrick Gallagher and four great grandchildren, Riley, Michaelyn, Julia and Jack Preston.

Genevieve was a lifetime member of the St. Vitus Church and received all of the Holy Sacraments. She participated in the Christian Mothers Guild, Holy Rosary Society, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and benefactress of various shrines.

During her life she was employed as a decorator and supervisor of Haviland Fine China at the Shenango Pottery. Additionally, she worked for St. Francis Hospital, the William F. DeCarbo Funeral Home, the New Castle Country Club and the Eagles Organization.

Socially, Gen enjoyed a 25 year friendship with her girlfriends of the Round-Up and Pluckers 7 Clubs. Her hobbies included dancing, travel, gardening and card games. She was known for her baking skills, especially homemade chocolate and banana cakes, nut loaves and spice cakes.

A Public Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Robert Zajdel of St. Vitus Church will be officiating.
