Samuel E. ‘Sonny’ Fredericks, 70, of Marr Road, Pulaski, died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born August 16, 1942 in New Castle, a son of the late Albert and Helen (Visnick) Fredericks. He is married to Bonnie (Flickinger) Fredericks who survives in Pulaski. Mr. Fredericks was a truck driver for over 40 years, mainly working for Ambrosia Trucking and also was a self-employed driver. He was an Army veteran serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Stateside. He was a member of the National Truck Pullers Association, the American Legion, and the Johnson Club. Mr. Fredericks was an avid bowler, played Texas Hold’em with his friends on a weekly basis, enjoyed truck pulling, semi and regular trucks, and also raced regulated stock cars and motorcycles. He also loved spending time with his daughters, and granddaughters and was looking forward to the birth of his grandson.

He is survived by two daughters, Michele Deal and her husband Robert, Jr. of Pulaski, PA, and Shanin McCree and her husband Jeffrey of New Castle, one brother, Albert Fredericks of Hillsville, two sisters, Sally Braho and Helen Paiano, both of Edinburg, PA, and two granddaughters, Aleah and Karah Deal.

There are no hours and a private funeral service will be held at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel, per Sonny’s request. Rev. William Shaffer of the New Castle Area Honor Guard will be officiating and the New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
