Jennie P. Lavecchia

Jennie P. LaVecchia, 83, of W. Madison Ave., New Castle, died Monday morning, May 5, 2008 at her home in New Castle. She was born October 30, 1924 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Alexander and Argenti (Nocera) DeAngelis. She married Nick J. LaVecchia on November 20, 1944, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. LaVecchia worked in the Cafeteria and as a Teachers Aide for the New Castle Area Schools for 13 years. Prior to that she was an Inspector at Airway Luggage for many years. Mrs. LaVecchia was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Columbus Club Ladies Auxiliaries and the Holy Rosary Society of St. Lucy Church. She was also an avid bowler and a City League Champion and enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by, three daughters, Maryann Tommelleo and husband Richard of Lexington, OH, Erma Jean Sandora and husband Patsy of Kissimmee, FL, and Nicolette Jo LaVecchia of Atlanta, GA, two brothers, Phillip DeAngelis of Freehold, NJ, and Charles DeAngelis of Melvern, NY, one sister, Laura Wrobel of New Castle, PA, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Kenneth Keene of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
