George ‘Ed’ Rae, 78, of Morris Street, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at his home in New Castle. He was born January 24, 1935 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania a son of the late William and Margaret (Ringler) Rae. He married Mary (Funk) Rae on December 10, 1955, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Rae was a janitor and worked in collections for the New Castle News retiring after 21 years. He enjoyed music and playing the piano and was active with Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by two, daughters, Robin Rae of Holton, KS, and Melody Birckbichler of New Castle, two grandchildren, Monika Homan and Nicholaus Birckbichler, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother William Rae, and his sister Margaret Deahl.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 8:00 P.M. at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. Rev. David Puffer of Sheperd's Lighthouse Church will be officiating.
