Fortunato 'Mary' Dethomas Grauso

Fortunato Mary DeThomas Grauso, 100, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, formerly of W. Clayton St., New Castle, died Wednesday morning, May 14, 2008 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was born October 27, 1907 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Groce and Grace (Parillo) Bertone. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, John DeThomas and her 2nd husband, Sam Grauso. Mrs. Grauso worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad retiring after many years. She also worked for Works in Progress Administration Sewing Project. Mrs. Grauso was a lifelong member of St. Lucy Church and enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by one daughter, Christine ‘Teena’ Krasinski of New Castle, PA, two step-daughters, Martha Martello and Rose DiCaria and her husband Dom, both of New Castle, PA, one step-son, Ernie Grauso and his wife Joan of New Castle, PA, one daughter-in-law, Liz (Jannetti) DeThomas, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, twenty step-great grandchildren and five step-great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Steve DeThomas, three brothers, Tony Bertone, William Barto, and Lawrence Barto, three sisters, Marie Matteo, Julia Barto, and Jennie Domenick, son-in-law, Henry Krasinski and her step-son-in-law, Sam Martello.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 5pm to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 16, 2008 at 11:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Kenneth Keene of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
