Eugene Barbati, 74, of W. Clayton St., New Castle, died Friday morning, May 16, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Beaver, Pennsylvania. He was born December 18, 1933 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late Isadore and Rose (Osso) Barbati. He married Patricia Ann (Bailey) Barbati on April 14, 1956. She survives in New Castle. Mr. Barbati was a machine operator and foreman for the Pennsylvania & Lake Erie and CSX Railroad retiring after 43 years. He was a Marines veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 315 and the American Legion Post 343. Mr. Barbati enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He also loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, two daughters, Roseanne Lynn Anderson and Veronica Jean Ventura and her husband Frank, both of New Castle, PA, two sons, Ronald E. Barbati and Daniel V. Barbati, both of New Castle, PA, one brother, Anthony Barbati of New Castle, PA, five sisters, Mary Conti of Cleveland, OH, Ida Jopek, Helen Joseph, Marjorie Coonfare, and Elvira Barbati, all of New Castle, PA, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Isadore, Richard, and Ronald Barbati.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 10:00 am at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the cemetery.
