Clara P. Stitt

Clara P. Stitt, 103, of Hamilton Street, New Castle, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was born January 6, 1910 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Chester and Arminda (Houk) Mercer. She was married to the late Willard L. Stitt who died November 25, 1970. Mrs. Stitt worked as a clerk for various retail stores in New Castle. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed sales and sewing.
She is survived by one daughter, Garnet Shreckengost and her husband Leo of New Castle, one son, Joseph Stitt of New Castle, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Willard Stitt, and three sisters, Ruth Hammond, Hazel Rohr, and Bertha Fandozzi.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 11 AM to 12 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. On-line condolences can be sent to: www.williamrogerdecarbo.com.
