Anthony P. ‘Tony’ Conti, 83, of Mt. Jackson Road, New Castle, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Beaver, Pennsylvania. He was born April 11, 1930 in Hillsville, a son of the late Frank and Sarah (Minteer) Conti. He married Lucy A. (DeVincentis) Conti on February 7, 1959, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Conti was a deputy game protector for Lawrence County and manager of the game lands in Volant and Sharpsville retiring after 20 years. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Staff Sgt. in Korea for 18 months calling artillery fire. He was a graduate of Union High School where he excelled in sports and was his class president. Mr. Conti also enjoyed wildlife and habitat preservation.
He is survived by four children, Lori Smiley of New Castle, Randy Conti of New York City, NY, Sharon Aloisi and her husband Drew of Stow, OH, and Jacqueline Conti of New Castle, one sister, Ruth Zarlingo of Hillsville, three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Conti and one granddaughter, Alena Aloisi.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Blessing services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Deacon John Carran of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the funeral home.
