Helen B. Colella, 88, of North Lafayette Street, New Castle, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was born January 12, 1925 in Stigler, Oklahoma a daughter of the late Clyde and Zella (Stewart) Clement. She was married to the late Albert L. Colella who died February 20, 1980. Mrs. Colella worked for the British Embassy in Washington, DC for a number of years. She also worked at King's Jewelry and the PA State Income Tax Bureau for 10 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, the 1937 club, and the Holy Rosary Society of St. Vincent de Paul Church. She volunteered for many years at St. Lucy and St. Margaret's summer festivals. She enjoyed reading, and music, following her husband's music career, which included the Blue Coat Band, she enjoyed playing cards and attending card parties, and loved her family.

She is survived by three children, Albert C. Colella and his wife Georgeann of Poland, OH, Paul J. Colella and his wife Kimberly of New Castle, and Joanna M. Colella of New Castle, one sister, Virginia Auterback of Woodbridge, VA, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Phillip J. Colella, one brother, Paul Clement, and one sister, Vestel Snyder.



Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Frank Almade of St. Vincent de Paul Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
