Nick S. ‘Chappy’ Mastrantuoni, 96, of South Cedar Street, Mahoningtown, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Overlook Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Wilmington. He was born January 13, 1917 in New Castle, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Lombardo) Mastrantuoni. He was married to the late Isabella (DeFelice) Mastrantuoni, who died July 29, 1979. Mr. Mastrantuoni worked at B&O Railroad for 12 years and retired from LTV Steel after 21 years as a mill rite. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and the Mahoning Sportsman's Club. 'Chappy' was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed going to the casino. He is also known for doing the Cake March at weddings.
He is survived by three children, Marie Russo and her husband Salvatore, Carmela Westcott and her husband Russell, and John Mastrantuoni and his wife Kathy, all of New Castle, one brother, Michael Masters of New Wilmington, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Masters, and three sisters, Florence Russo, Mary Domenick, and Anna Vitale.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Frank Almade of St. Vincent de Paul Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Cemetery.
