George William Lawton, Sr., 67, of Clayton Circle, Slippery Rock Twp., died Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2008 at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born July 30, 1940 in Byesville, Ohio the son of the late George and Elsie (Hall) Lawton. He was married to Alice M. (Grannis) Sleigher Lawton, who died on January 11, 2003. Mr. Lawton retired from the Prime Outlets in Grove City as a maintenance man. Previously he was a cab driver for Rainbow Taxi and Fowlers Cab for many years. Mr. Lawton enjoyed fixing and maintaining automobiles and making crafts, bead jewelry, key chains, pins and ornaments. He was an avid reader and studier of the Bible.

He is survived by two sons, George W. Lawton, Jr. and Randolph C. Lawton, both of New Castle, one daughter, Brenda L. Hanna of Edinburg, PA, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Louis E. Lawton, his sister, Betty J. Lawton and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Abe Robles of Calvary Temple will be officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Park Cemetery.
