Clara L. Staph

Clara L. Colaiacovo Staph, 81, of Vista South, formerly of Harrison Street, New Castle, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. She was born February 28, 1932 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Geatano and Lucia (Ferraro) Colaiacovo. She was married to the late Richard ‘Dick’ Staph on June 21, 1952. He died November 29, 1999. Mrs. Staph was a cook at Medure's Restaurant and Lounge for over 30 years. She also volunteered at St. Vitus School Cafeteria for many years. She was a 1950 graduate of New Castle High School and a member of St. Vitus Church. Clara was a loving, giving person who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed going to the casino and baking, and loved her children and grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is survived by son, Richard ‘Ricky’ Staph and his wife Mariann of New Castle, one daughter, Cyndi Staph of New Castle, two brothers, Harry Colaiacovo and his wife Joyce of New Castle, and Benny Colaiacovo and his wife Cecilia of Dunkirk, NY, two sisters, Christine Lutz and her husband Gaylord of New Castle, and Marie Monico of Girard, OH, two brother-in-law, Anthony Staph of New Castle and Jack Staph and his wife Bernie of Moreland, OH, six grandchildren, Justin R., Mark A., and James M. Staph, all of New Castle, Jonquil Glorioso DiNardo and her husband Anthony of Jacksonville, FL, Tory L. Glorioso of Sharon, PA, and Denny A. Glorioso of New Castle, and two great grandchildren, Gianni A. Glorioso and Sophia Josephine Staph.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Amodie and Philomena Elisco, and one granddaughter, Kiley R. Staph.


Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 1 PM to 2 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. A Blessing Service will be held Thursday at 2 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father William Siple of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
