Elvira Jean Toscano, 90, of Mercer RD, New Castle, died Sunday evening, July 13, 2008 at her home. She was born March 10, 1918 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Antonio and Philomina (Pacella) Phillips. She was married to Harry A. ‘Kaiser’ Toscano who died on February 8, 2005. Mrs. Toscano was Part-Owner and Clerk of the Pulaski and Wampum Auctions for 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Church and the Mary Martha Guild of the church and was an avid bowler and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by one son, Harry N. Toscano of New Castle, PA, one daughter, Karen R. Messner of New Wilmington, PA, one sister, Thelma Novak of Pittsburgh, PA, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Michael, Edward, and Raymond Phillips, and three sisters, Ruth Prescaro, Eltina Lucidore, and Elia Skinner.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 12:30 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Father Robert Schweitzer of St. Joseph the Worker Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
