Hillis L. Miles

Hillis L. Miles, 80, of Miller Ave., Union Twp., died Thursday evening, July 31, 2008 at his daughter’s home, on Matilda Ave., Union Twp. He was born January 9, 1928 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late William and Nancy (Palmer) Miles. He married Mary M. (Masters) Miles on February 3, 1948, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Miles retired after 55 years with the B&O and CSX Railroad as a Signal Maintainer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and enjoyed working in his work shop doing small engine repair.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, two daughters, Belinda A. DeMatteis of New Castle, PA, and Lulu D. Thomas of Conway, SC, one son, Hilles L. Miles of New Castle, PA, two brothers, Henry Miles of New Castle, PA, and William Miles of Ellwood City, PA, two sisters, Eleanor Baxter of New Castle, PA, and Shirley Kelly of Houston, TX, five granddaughters and five great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, three brothers, James, David, and Arthur ‘Butch’ Miles, and two sisters, Elizabeth Natale, and Luella Mills.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 10am to 12pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 4, 2008 at 12:00 pm at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the Funeral Home
