Mary L. Petronelis O'Dell

Mary L. Petronelis O'Dell, 91, of West Meyer Avenue, New Castle, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Edison Manor Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born February 10, 1923 in Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Louis and Caliopi (Glavaris) Calandros. She was married to the late Athimos Petronelis who died November 1969. She was then married to the late Leonard O’Dell who died December 20, 2007. Mrs. O'Dell was a baker's helper for Gustav's Bakery and Superior Bakery for many years. She was a member of the Navy Wives Club in Norfolk, VA and was past president of the club. Mrs. O'Dell was a fortune teller for all of her life and she worked with the Norfolk Police Department on several cases. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Russell A. Petronelis and George A. Petronelis, both of New Castle, one brother, Thomas Calandros of Piney Flats, TN, three sisters, Stella Xenos of Sharon, PA, Evelyn Felouzis of Apollo, PA, and Jesse Damato of Holiday, FL, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Louis A. Petronelis, two brothers, George and Nick Calandros, and one sister, Anna Pantelas.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
