Margaret L. Young, 97, of New Castle, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle. She was born February 17, 1917 in Salem, Ohio a daughter of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Smith) Bowles. Mrs. Young worked in housekeeping at Jameson Memorial Hospital retiring after 20 years. She also worked at the New Penn Hotel and Axis Meat Market. She was a lifetime member of First United Brethren Church and was active in Missionary work at the church. She also loved to sewing, cooking, baking and gardening.
She is survived by five children, Robert Moyer and his wife Dorrine of Sacramento, CA, Richard M. Moyer of New Castle, William H. Moyer and his wife Elizabeth of New Castle, Jack Maley and his wife Roberta of Sacramento, CA, and Jean Rollins of New Castle, one sister, Dorothy Sanfelice of Panama City, FL, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, her 1st husband Herman Moyer, her 2nd husband Jack Maley, and her 3rd husband Clarence Young, one daughter, Donna Jean Kirby, two brothers, Jack and Edward Bowles, and four sisters, Nell Fortney, Hazel Forney, Ruth Samalko, and Aleen Bouk.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 2 PM to 5 PM.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, 2014 at 5:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Wiseman will be officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
