Michael F. Annarella, 87, of Cameron Ave., Union Twp., died Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2008 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born April 21, 1921 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of the late Felix and Angeline (Russo) Annarella. He was married to Velma (Quinn) Annarella for 59 years, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Annarella was a member of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association for 50 years and retired as a plasterer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. Mr. Annarella served on the Union Area School Board and was the President of the Board when the new school was built. He was also a member of the Sewer Authority for over 30 years. Mr. Annarella was also very active in local sports as a coach and manager and was inducted into the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame for baseball. He was a member of St. Vitus Church and an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, one daughter, Kathie Wycliffe of New Castle, two sons, Michael ‘Mickey’ Annarella and his wife Allie and Harry Annarella, both of New Castle, PA, one sister, Elizabeth Annarella of New Castle, PA, seven grandchildren, Jaime Moore, Ann Annarella, Nicola Fuchs, Amy Annarella, Megan DeGidio, Kristen Fornataro and Michael G. Annarella, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Anthony, Angelo, Philip, and Joseph Annarella, and four sisters, Josephine, Helen, and Clara Annarella, and Rose Chiafullo.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 4 pm to 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery.
