Helen R. DePola, 90, of East Sheridan Avenue, New Castle, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. She was born January 20, 1924 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Reda) Porco. She was married to the late Joseph DePola, Sr. who died July 3, 2007. Mrs. DePola was secretary and bookkeeper for her husband's business, DePola Excavating and Grading retiring after 40 years. She was a member of the Church of God New Castle Highland Avenue and was very active in the church, she was a Sunday School Teacher and the District Treasurer of the Women's Ministry. She loved worshiping and praising her Lord and Savior. Mrs. DePola also enjoyed cooking, baking, and caring for and encouraging others.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice E. Ialongo and her husband Victor of Ellwood City, one granddaughter, Kristin A. DePola, and a number of nieces and nephews, and one great nephew, Antonio Lee Torsello.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph DePola, Sr., and two sisters, Mary Torsello, and Lenore DeRosa.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Pastor Ronald Mounts of Church of God New Castle, Pastor Frederick Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church, and Rev. Dale Russo will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens in New Castle.
