Josephine V. Russo

Josephine V. Russo, 84, of West Clayton Street, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her residence in New Castle. She was born July 19, 1930 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Antonio and Rosina (Burzachechi)Martello. She was married to the late Anthony N. Russo who died September 26, 1991. Mrs. Russo was a homemaker and a private duty home health care giver. She was a member of a ladies rosary group in Mahoningtown and sang in the St. Vincent de Paul and St. Vitus Choirs, she was noted for having a beautiful singing voice. Mrs. Russo also enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting family gatherings.

She is survived by seven children, Angela Schon and her husband Ronald of Boardman, OH, Anne Cameron and her husband David of New Castle, Mary Ellen Manzo and her husband Greg of West Pittsburg, Lorraine Russo of New Castle, Rosemarie Russo of Burbank, CA, Norma Jean Andrie and husband Mario of Reedsville, PA, and Richard Russo and his wife Jennifer of Pittsburgh, PA, one sister, Helen Lepore of New Castle, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Martello, four sisters, Olive Dottle, Carlotta Pecano, Mary Navarra and Dora Tommelleo, and one great grandson.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Vitus Church. Father Nick Vaskov of St. Vitus Church will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
