Benjamin O. Julian, 91, of W. Elizabeth St., New Castle, died Wednesday evening, September 3, 2008 at Life Care in Bellevue, PA. He was born in the Shadyside Area of New Castle on September 18, 1916 the son of the late Thomas and Severina (Giancola) Julian. He was married to Mary Elizabeth (Bertolino) Julian, who died on December 29, 1970. Mr. Julian was a machinist at the Johnson Bronze for over 40 years. He was a World War II Army veteran serving with the 251st Engineer Combat Battalion in Europe. He received various medals for his service including a Purple Heart. Mr. Julian was a member of the VFW and St. Vitus Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and yard work and was an avid Yankees fan. He also loved watching his grandson Ryan play baseball and all of his other activities.
He is survived by one son, Dr. Thomas B. Julian of Sewickley Heights, PA, one daughter, Kathleen M. Barrett of Knox, PA and one grandson, Ryan Barrett.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Palma Julian and Jean DelCastello.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 10 am to 12 noon at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
A Blessing Service will be conducted Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Robert Zajdel of St. Vitus Church will conducted the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
