Edith M. Newtzie

Edith M. Newtzie, 86, of Ruth Street, Shenango Twp., died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born September 26, 1927 in Greenville, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Clyde and Ethel (Peach) Hodge. She was married to the late Nicholas Newtzie, Jr. who died February 4, 1979. Mrs. Newtzie worked at Shenango China in the Gold Room and at St. Francis Hospital in dietary for many years. She also volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for many years. Mrs. Newtzie enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Ronald Newtzie and his wife Kathy of Franklin, PA, Christine D'Angelo and her husband Louis of New Castle, Diane Marletto and her husband Michael of New Castle, and Nicholas Newtzie, III and his wife Karen of New Castle, three brothers, Ellsworth Hodge of New Castle, Charles Hodge of Cleveland, OH, and Robert Hodge of New Castle, one sister, Dorothy Callahan of New Castle, ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David Newtzie, three brothers, Ralph, Francis, and Russell Hodge, and two sisters, Anna Mae Artman and Mary Belle Fosnaught.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dennis Bupp will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
